This crochet flower granny square is so pretty that it really deserves a project to use it on. I was going to do a beautiful pattern for a Mother’s Day Crochet along and it had to be canceled. Since the square was so lovely, I thought I would share it with you now. Maybe this fall we can use it for a pretty pattern.

This is the first time I have ever designed a crochet granny square. I have to say the challenge was invigorating. This pattern was designed to work with a beautiful shawl, will look amazing in a blanket or afghan, and bordering other projects.
I tried several color combinations for this flower granny square. I think that the flower looks wonderful in a solid color and as a two-toned flower. Below you can see the pattern worked in several different color combinations.
I would love to tell you that this is an easy crochet pattern, but besides the solid granny square, I don’t really feel like any granny square will fit in that category.
For this crochet flower granny square, you will need to know how to do all the basic stitches from single crochet to treble crochet. You will also need to know how to double crochet 2 stitches together and make a cluster stitch. There are written instructions for these stitches below. They are also demonstrated in the video tutorial.
