Baby bootie without a seam on the sole for 6-8 months – not difficult knitting!

Here’s a clear, beginner-friendly knitting guide for seam-free baby booties with no seam on the sole, sized for 6–8 months. This pattern is easy, worked mostly in garter stitch, and knitted in one piece (flat), then lightly sewn only at the back—never under the foot, so baby stays comfy 👶🧶

Seam-Free Baby Booties (6–8 Months)

Easy knitting – no sole seam

Finished Size

  • Fits approx. 6–8 months

  • Sole length: 11–12 cm (4.5–4.75 inches)

Materials

  • Yarn: DK or light worsted (soft baby yarn recommended)

  • Needles: 4 mm (US 6) straight needles

  • Extras: Yarn needle, scissors

Gauge (not critical for this pattern)

  • Garter stitch (knit every row)

  • About 22 stitches = 10 cm / 4 inches

Abbreviations

  • k = knit

  • p = purl

  • st(s) = stitch(es)

  • RS = right side

  • WS = wrong side

Pattern Instructions

1. Cast On (Sole + Foot)

Cast on 36 stitches.

Knit every row (garter stitch) for 28 rows.
➡️ This forms the sole and sides, with no seam underneath.

2. Shape the Instep (Top of Foot)

Row 29 (RS):
Knit 12 sts, bind off 12 sts, knit remaining 12 sts.

You now have 12 stitches on each side, with the center bound off.

3. Knit the Sides of the Bootie

Work both sides separately, but the same way.

Side 1:

  • Knit 12 stitches for 14 rows (garter stitch).

  • Place stitches on a holder or spare needle.

Side 2:

  • Rejoin yarn and knit 12 stitches for 14 rows.

4. Join for the Cuff

Put both sets of stitches back onto one needle.
You should now have 24 stitches.

Knit 8 rows in garter stitch for a soft cuff.

(Optional: switch to k1, p1 rib for the cuff if you want it snugger.)

5. Cast Off

Cast off loosely.

Finishing (Very Minimal Sewing ✨)

  • Fold bootie in half

  • Sew only the back seam from heel to top of cuff

  • Do NOT sew the sole – it is already seamless

Weave in ends neatly.

Optional Variations

  • Add a crochet chain tie or ribbon at the cuff

  • Knit cuff longer and fold it down

  • Use a contrast color for the cuff
